Verge electrum wallet not connected – Disconnected from the server (Fixed)

Recently we made a guide on setting up Verge electrum wallet. Instead of QT wallet we recommended our users to download electrum wallet because electrum wallet uses very low resource and they are fast compared to QT wallet. You can find more benefits of electrum wallet and some other additional information here at verge electrum wallet setup guide.

There was one main issue most users encountered which is wallet getting disconnected from the server. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting constantly. Also few users reported that they do not see their coins which they send to their electrum wallet. This is mainly because of the connection issue. Β First of all do not panic if you don’t see your funds. It happens at times especially when the wallet is offline or not synchronized with the blockchain. We recommend you to use the verge block explorer to check your balance. If your balance is correct then everything is perfect except the wallet which we are going to fix now.

Even we faced this issue once and since then we moved to Verge QT wallet as we do not use the wallet much. After searching several forums we found a fix for Verge electrum wallet offline issue. Whoever is facing trouble connecting the electrum wallet to the verge network can follow this guide.

Verge Electrum wallet not connected Issue fixed

First thing first, ensure that you are using the latest version electrum wallet, if not then download from the website. At the time of writing this article the version we were using was Electrum – XVG 2.4.1. Next check the bottom right corner of the wallet. If you see green light then it is connected to the network, if you see big red button then it is not connected.

If it is green button then you just have to ensure that if it is constant or keeps reconnecting every now and then. If it keeps reconnecting and synchronizing then you will find trouble doing transactions so to avoid this the network should be in green all the time. Here are few fixes which we found online and it should work for both Windows as well as Mac users.

Verge Electrum wallet network issue fix no 1:

Click on the big red button at the bottom right corner of your wallet which should open the network settings window. You’ll find two default servers such as electrum-verge.xyg and Β electrum-xvg.stream. Since they both are not working we are going to add new network address.

xvg electrum network setting

To do so copy any one of these and paste it in the address field on the network settings just like you see in the image.

e1.verge-electrum.com
e2.verge-electrum.com
e3.verge-electrum.com

Make sure auto-connect is unchecked and use SSL is checked. Then change the port to 50003 and set proxy as none. Once done click on ok and your wallet should connect to then network now. If it is still offline even after trying these three networks then we suggest you to try adding the below address.

elec2.verge-blockchain.com or electrum-xvg.party. If it is connected then you should see the green ball at the bottom corner. Also you should see your funds now. If none of these are working then please try the next solution.

Verge Electrum wallet offline fix no 2

Now for fix no 2 we’ll be using the same address which we usedΒ  before but using different method. Instead of adding the address in the wallet directly we are going to edit the network file of your wallet and put the address there. To do so follow these steps

1. First close your XVG electrum wallet.
2. Then go to the folder where you extracted your wallet. You’ll find several folders and files along with your wallet file which is electrum-xvg.exe.
3. Now open the folder that says lib where you’ll find a file named network.py (electrum-xvg-win-amd64\lib\network.py).
4. Once you locate that right click on the network.py file and open in a notepad or notepad ++ as we are going to edit this file.
5. Once it is open you’ll find a section that says “DEFAULT_SERVERS” where you’ll only find 2 or 3 address by default which was added by the developers.

verge network address

6. Now we are going to replace that section with the following list. Copy the addresses below and put it in that section as you see in the image.

‘electrum-verge.xyz’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},
‘electrum-xvg.stream’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},
‘electrum-xvg.party’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},
‘e1.verge-electrum.com’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},
‘e2.verge-electrum.com’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},
‘e3.verge-electrum.com’:{‘t’:’50001′, ‘s’:’50002′},

Once it is done, save the file and open your wallet. It should be online and connected to the server.

Fix no 3 – Tor Browser method

Additionally we found this particular fix on GitHub discussion page.

electrum tor connection

  1. Run Tor Browser and keep it open (You can download the browser from Tor website).
  2. Now in the network setting of your electrum wallet enter t4c6rftkx673mlqv.onion in address field and set port as 50001.
  3. Uncheck auto-connect and SSL.
  4. Since we are using Tor browser set proxy as SOCKS5, localhost as network and 9150 as port. Once done click on Ok which should put the wallet online.

We hope any one of the above methods worked for you. If none of these worked then we’re sorry and we suggest you to use Verge QT wallet. If you found a different method in fixing your verge electrum wallet then please do let us know in comments. It will help others.

  1. I tried editing the network file as per your instructions now it won’t open at all. I get error. Please advise on how to fix? I’d rather not lose the verge I have pending to this wallet.

    1. Hey, sorry to hear that. First of all please don’t panic. Your coins should be fine. Do check your wallet address in block explorer. Also could you please be more specific on the error that you are getting so we could help further.

        1. The same code is shown in the article.

          'electrum-verge.xyz':{'t':'50001', 's':'50002'},

  2. Hello,

    These instructions didn’t help. I got an error after applying the second solution. Had to reinstall all the wallet again. And now it’s the same again, can’t connect to the server. All three solutions aren’t working for me. Is there a new server now? How can I fix it please? Please help. Thank you in advance.

    1. Hey, sorry to hear that. Is it completely not connected or just syncing more often? We just checked our electrum and its connected to the network. Just follow the fix number 1 and make sure to set port to 50003. Also we found some new servers added. If fix 1 is not working then try adding these servers but before making any changes we highly recommend that you take a backup of your wallet.

      If it is not connecting still or keep synchronizing then we suggest you to get community help directly from bitcointalk or discord.

    2. Here is what worked for me…. go to electrum-xvg-tor-win-amd64 folder then edit electrum-xvg config file delete
      [client]
      server = qz6pnufyqjexudq6.onion:50001:t
      proxy = 127.0.0.1:9150
      gap_limit = 5
      # booleans use python syntax
      use_change = True
      gui = qt
      num_zeros = 2
      # default transaction fee is in Satoshis
      fee = 100000
      winpos-qt = [799, 226, 877, 435]
      and then do fix number 2 and you should be good to go !
      dont forget to run notepad as admin or atleast I did .

  3. Don’t do the lousy second solution. Like a couple of people above complained, it screws up the whole thing. If you are lucky the damn thing might connect with the other solutions, I hope to become lucky at some point. And then hopefully to move it to somewhere else. I am asking for any help , because that is completely pointless. Shouldn’t have used this wallet. How can any one trust these developers if they can’t sort a wallet issue?

    1. We don’t know why still so many users are facing this issue. Here this is our current setting.

      XVG electrum network setting

      If you follow the Fix 1 then it should work. The wallet stays online without any disconnection.
      If still no luck then our only recommendation is Verge QT wallet.

      1. I cannot get the darn 50002 to go to 50003. EVERY single time I press OK it doesn’t update to 50003 and it stays at 50002.

        Please help, thank you for your time.

        1. Same here please help, also tried to edit the network.py and when i re-run wallet it says the following:
          cx_Freeze: Python error main script
          Traceback(Most recent call last):
          File
          C;/Anaconda3/envs/pyqtexe27/lib/site-packages/cx_freeze*Inscripts/Console.py’,line 26 in run
          File ‘electrum-xvg’, line 75, in (module)
          File C:/Miner/VERGE/electrum-xvg-win-amd64/lib/init_pyΒΏ, line 5 in (module)

          1. Same as these guys. I actually started mining to an address in there. Hardest time I’ve had connecting a wallet for a crypto by far. Have probably 20 wallets so far. Even day one shit coins connect right away.

            Edit: To anyone still struggling. To fix you download the tor browser. Add the address in the white-list section of the options of the browser. And then restart your electrum wallet. I’m pretty sure the wallet is connecting through the tor network so you need it on your computer. I find it very very strange this isn’t told anywhere by anyone around this coin.. Had to dig to find this info.

  4. I used to not have any trouble connecting with the servers on your #1 FIX however, now, it is a completely different story.
    Whenever I try and change the port to 50003 it never changes to 50003.

    This is starting to get extremely infuriating. Is there anyway to connect the CORE 4.01 wallet to the address that is holding my coins?
    I feel this is the ONLY option I have left.
    Currently my wallet says synchronizing and it keeps on going forever, never successfully connecting.

  5. Hello!!! IT WORKED WITH FIX NUMBER 3 (TOR).

    About the rest:
    I’ve tried all steps and my electrum wallet 2.4.1 can’t connect to server.
    When I change the network settings and modify the port as 50003, once I click “ok” it keeps not connecting. When I get in network again the port changed automatically to 50001.. How can I fix it in 50003.

    I’ve tried all the rest and happens the same keeping SSL checked and auto-connect “Disabled”.

    I downloaded the QT Wallet, downloaded the whole blockchain and there is no way (At least that I know) to import my electrum wallet to QT Wallet. I tried the “console” importprivkey PRIVATEKEY and the message I receive is “Error adding key to wallet (code -4)”.

    The blockchain explorer stills shows my balance but.. how can I have access?? Please I would appreciate your help.

  6. Hi, I was hoping you guys could help me out. I am using Tor Electrum. I would like to know how I can remove some of the servers from the Network Server box and why in the Tor instructions you uncheck SSL. I seem to be able to connect if I check this, but if I uncheck the box then I get kicked out. Can you explain what the SSL is?
    Thank you!!!

  7. Finally it worked. As soon as I downloaded Tor browser and run it, it connected to server instantly. You are Great. Thanks a lot.

  8. Fix #3 did it for me. The others did not work.
    Fix#2 I had to go in and change all the quote marks even after sending to Notepad to strip out any formatting – before editing in Notepad++. And it still did not work. (But at least I didn’t get all kinds of syntax errors like I did in earlier attempts of Fix#2)
    However, as soon as I applied Fix#3 my funds showed up from an earlier transaction.

    1. I’m not very tech savvy and need help. I screwed up my electrum wallet by trying to do step 2 and just tried to start over by downloading a new electrum wallet from the Verge website. That is not connecting and now I can’t access any of my coins. Can anybody assist me. Kind of freaking out.

      1. same here! i’m frozen out of my wallet after step 2 and can’t access it at all now! downloaded the tor qt wallet from website and have no idea how to restore from the seed words?? can’t access anything, not even able to get an address to check on the blockchain. i’m am overly frustrated!!! very crappy for people who aren’t tech savvy. freaking out here. how does one restore their wallet that they are locked out of from the #2 fix?

  9. Sorry not one of the solutions worked for me, In my wallet I see my verge coins but can’t access them anymore, what now???

  10. This is what worked for me:
    you need to download the TOR browser ( a must)
    download the electrum TOR wallet
    in the new TOR wallet, restore your old wallet with the seed words from your original(frozen/unuseable) wallet. Make sure the TOR browser is open before you restore/open the wallet. In order for the electrum tor wallet to connect, the TOR browser needs to be open as you are using the wallet.
    Hope this helps!

    1. Perfect solution. I tried all others above. Haven’t been paying attention since late 2017 haha.
      Used these two websites
      download XVG Electrum Tor Client 2.4.1 here github.com/vergecurrency/electrum-xvg-tor/releases
      Follow these steps: verge.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360015942172–Tor-Electrum-XVG-Beginner-s-Guide

      BUT don’t create a new wallet, restore your wallet with your 9 word seed. Tor browser must be opened.
      Create a new password. After that the wallet opens up. I did not have connection yet, but after restarting the wallet again I had connection…finally! πŸ™‚

    2. Genius! This method worked for me too! Thought my xvg was gone for good.

      Many thanks for this.

  11. Good afternoon guy’s,

    After over two years of transferring verge to my electrum wallet, I tried to access these coins again. Unfortunately neither of the options worked out. Tried the normal and the Tor version. However neither of the servers seem to work at the minute. If you can give me a hint which servers work with which combination, this would be highly appreciated!!!

    Thanks in advance

  12. I also can not send my XVG from old wallet 2.4.1 Electrum – I have tried everything and its not possible to connect on server. I am willing to send u some XVG for solution as a gift πŸ™‚

  13. Hello,
    I tried all the tips to establish the network connection.
    Unfortunately, none of it worked. πŸ™
    Does anyone still have a good idea how I can restore the Electrum-Verge wallet ???
    I would be really grateful for that!
    Kind regards Jojo

  14. No, not a problem. I’m not so well informed, but what I _think_ has happened is that I just moved the private keys from 1 wallet to another wallet, so that new wallet can access the coins. So I think no actual transaction has been made, but just an exchange of keys.
